The Digital Literacy Program helps people build the skills and confidence to use computers, tablets, and smartphones. It’s designed with people leaving homelessness or living on a low income in mind. The program pairs small group classes with one-on-one tutoring, shaped around each person’s own goals. People learn to get around online services, apply for housing and jobs, stay in touch with friends and family, and find community resources. With a hands-on, supportive approach, learners build practical digital skills at their own pace, staying connected, doing more on their own, and taking a fuller part in their community and the services they rely on.

The Digital Literacy Program is located in the community of Hillhurst in Calgary, connected to The James House, a home that offers safe, stable housing and personalized support for 27 people who were previously without a stable place to live. The program is also going mobile, working alongside community partners across the city to reach people beyond Hillhurst.
