Wicihitowin

Providing safe and stable housing options and support for Indigenous youth

About Wicihitowin

wicihitowin (formally known as Hope Homes for Indigenous Youth) is a program that provides safe and stable housing options and individualized supports for youth, 16-24 years old, who are Indigenous and experiencing homeless or are at risk of homelessness.

wicihitowin (phonetic spelling: Wi-Chi-Hi-Towin) is a Cree word that means “to help mutually” and “the act of helping one another.”  Connected to three other Cree words that mean love, empathy and kindness for all living beings, wicihitowin can also be said in reference to the mutual assistance and respect between land and people.

wicihitowin operates from Housing First, Harm Reduction and Trauma Informed Practice models of care and integrates a holistic Indigenous worldview.
