Ways to Give
Resilient children, youth and families are a result of caring and strong communities.
MAKE A DIFFERENCE
How to Give
Our ability to help over 2600 individuals and families each year is because of community supporters like you! Your generosity ensures that we have the resources to provide timely and personalized support to meet the unique needs that vulnerable children, youth and families face in their times of need.
You can direct your one time or monthly gift to one of our Areas of Need or select “Where it’s needed most” which allows us to flexibly meet emergent client needs.
McMan Calgary & Area is a registered charitable organization: #119035947RR0001. All of our donors are recognized in our Annual Report to the Community. If you would like to remain anonymous, please select “I’d like to remain anonymous” on the donation form.
One Time Donation
Big or small, every gift helps us make a difference in the lives of children, youth and families in Calgary & Area. Together we are transforming lives.
Monthly gifts help us ensure critical services are offered all year round when needed by our clients! Tax receipts for monthly gifts are issued in February.
Gifts in Kind
We accept select in-kind gifts such as new toys in original packaging, gift cards and care packages for parents such as diapers and baby gear.
Areas of Need
McMan Calgary & Area strives to provide a continuum of care for the children, youth and families who need a little extra care.
Christmas Hampers for Vulnerable Families
The holidays are most often a busy time of year filled with friends, family and festivities. While things will be different this year due to COVID-19, imagine not being able to afford celebrating the holidays or giving a gift to your child?
For many of the children, youth and families we support, this is their reality. Since our beginning, McMan Calgary & Area has hosted an annual client Christmas party, so the vulnerable individuals we support can experience the joys of the season, too. What started as a party for 10 clients has now grown to bring together over 600 children, youth and families.
To adhere to social distancing protocols, we are distributing hampers to some of our most vulnerable families to ensure they have a holiday meal and presents for their children. We are asking our community to help us spread the holiday cheer by supporting the purchase of food and toys.
Protection of Sexually Exploited Children Act (PSECA)
In Canada 95% of trafficking victims are women of those 24% are under 18 years of age. McMan’s Protection of Sexually Exploited Children Act (PSECA) Program works with youth, 12-24 years, who are at risk of sexual exploitation to increase their personal safety and reduce their risk of exploitation.
Youth served through PSECA often face complex barriers including mental health struggles, addictions, and homelessness. The PSECA Program provides support to 8-15 youth, and their families each year. In the past year and a half the number of referrals to the program has tripled!
We need your help to address the increase demand for services. Donations to the PSECA Program help ensure youth have timely access to the resources and services they need including: mental health and wellness counselling, uncovered medical expenses, personal care items, and emergency housing supports.
“The program helped me get out of bad situations and learn new skills”
“The PSECA Coordinator is amazing. She is the best advocate and makes me feel truly supported and cared about.”
100% of the youth served report that they received the support they needed to maintain their personal safety.
Youth Mental Health & Wellness
In Alberta, 1 in 5 people experience a mental illness and over 10% of Albertans 15 years and older battle drug and alcohol dependency. The chances are you know someone who has or is currently facing mental illness or addiction.
Our school and community-based programs such as Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) groups and KickStart/ReStart Groups help youth learn the skills to promote life-long mental and emotional well-being.
With support from community donors like you, last year over 300 youth took part in Mental Health and Wellness workshops. Help us keep the momentum going!
For more information about how you can partner with us to increase the number of youth who have access to professional mental health supports, contact us.
I get stressed easily so the DBT skills help me to have down time and put my head back on straight so I can continue with my day. I don’t like to throw around words like life-changing and profound, but it has been an incredible life-changing thing.
