Celebrating 50 Years!
In November 1975, four young graduates of the Youth Development Program at Grant MacEwan College set their sights on establishing a safe home for six youth, fueled by determination and the belief that every child deserves a chance to thrive.
Last year, McMan agencies across Alberta served over 19,000 people – more than 4,000 of those in Calgary & Area. Throughout November, we’ll be sharing more of our archival photos and images with the community on our social media channels.
The world around us has changed a lot…from fashion to the complexity of the challenges our clients face. But our commitment to supporting people to achieve their potential through our services Is unwavering, just as it was 50 years ago.

A New Strategic Plan
We are pleased to share McMan Calgary & Area’s Strategic Plan 2025-2028 with you, a roadmap that reflects our direction for the next three years.
Four priority areas that will guide our next few years at McMan. We will:
- Focus and enhance our services to meet growing client needs
- Strengthen our commitment to Truth and Reconciliation
- Grow brand engagement and funding streams to increase service delivery impact
- Strengthen our organizational capacity and culture to lead in service excellence
This strategic plan is about staying true to what we do best while making sure we’re ready to meet the challenges and opportunities of the future.

October is Foster & Kinship Caregiver Month
To every foster and kinship caregiver who opens their heart and home to children in need, the McMan team says Thank You! Foster and kinship caregivers are the everyday heroes who keep children connected to family, culture, and community.
McMan’s Placement Coordinators receive screenings from Placement Services each and every day, and work tirelessly to connect children with the best foster family to meet their strengths and needs. With 80 foster care beds, and 8 therapeutic foster care beds available, the need for foster families is a continuing priority.

Help Make the Season Brighter!
Help make the holiday season brighter at our 42nd Annual Youth & Family Holiday Party!
Each November, our community comes together to create a joyful, inclusive celebration for clients and families by supporting a special afternoon that includes a holiday meal, music, crafts, gifts and other surprises. For many of the 300-400 clients attending, it will be their only holiday celebration this year.
